We worked with the City of Calgary and the Killarney Glengarry Community Association to build a temporary pop-up park to provide new opportunities for playing, socializing, relaxing, and gathering for residents of all ages and abilities. The installation included a ping pong table, casual seating, 2 adult and 2 kid-sized wheelchair accessible picnic tables, a large climbable wave installation, 2 planters, a 6 hole mini golf course and a community mural where kids' chalk drawings were preserved in matching purple paint.
QR codes on the park furniture, signage, and post cards delivered to nearby residents directed to an online engagement page, which was used to collect public feedback about participants’ experiences in the pop-up park. This temporary pilot will go on to inform the future implementation of upgrades and new amenities to the space south of the Killarney Aquatic & Recreation Centre.
